Elementary School Teacher Pays Price for Being Good Wife and Concealing Her Husband’s Steroid UGL Operation

Julie Landry was a full-time school teacher who taught fourth-graders at Summerfield Elementary School in Shreveport, Louisiana. Meanwhile her husband Brant Landry was a steroid dealer who allegedly manufactured anabolic steroids in a clandestine underground laboratory (UGL) located in their home.

Julie Landry knew that her husband was doing something illegal but apparently stayed out of the operation – until he asked her to help conceal evidence from the police. Federal prosecutors have accused Julie of getting rid of a stash of anabolic steroids that was stored in their home in anticipation of a police raid.

Being a good wife, Julie did what her husband asked. And now, she is paying the price. Just like that, Julie Landry became part of the conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute anabolic steroids for an almost 2-1/2 year period between January 1, 2016 and May 22, 2018.

Julie Landry was also indicted by a federal grand jury on a second charge of “misprision of a felony” as a direct result of her removal of steroids from her and her husband’s home.

Her husband, Brant Landry, faces three felony charges e.g. conspiracy, possession with intent to distribute anabolic steroids, manufacture anabolic steroids and possession of a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking offense. Police seized the following weapons: Ruger, High Point Rifle, Remington 870 Shotgun, DPMS AR-15 Rifle, Taurus Firearm and Sig Sauer Firearm.

The couple’s friend and business partner, Mike Mosura, was the third member of the conspiracy to be indicted. Mosura was charged with one count of conspiracy. Mosura is a member of Bossier Parish School Board representing District 5. Mosura is up for re-election on November 6, 2018.

Brant and Julie Landry were the owners of the now-defunct Bars and Scars Warehouse Gym in Bossier City. The gym closed down earlier this year. Mosura is involved in the fitness industry as well. He is affiliated with Broadmoor Fitness LLC which appears to be a franchisee of the Anytime Fitness facility located on the Shreveport-Barksdale Highway.

Brant Landry and Mosura work together as officers/members of two Louisiana-based companies – Louisiana Empire Management LLC and Louisiana Empire Development LLC.

Both Julie Landry and Mosura were released from jail on a $25,000 unsecured bond. Both were asked to relinquish their passports. However, Brant Landry remains incarcerated in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
