Bodybuilder’s Bali Porn Days Come to End with Extradition

Convicted steroid dealer was extradited to the UK following his arrest last summer in Bali.

Terrence David Murrell, a convicted steroid dealer from Wales who resorted to homemade pornography to support his life on the lam in Bali, has been extradited by the Republic of Indonesia. Indonesian officials deported Murrell last weekend.

Murrell was scheduled to appear in the Caernarfon Crown Court on March 24, 2020. Murrell was supposed to have been flown from Bali to London via Taipei (Taiwan) in time to make his court date. However. Murrell’s transfer from a London airport to North Wales did not take place in time.

Judge Huw Rees was already sentenced Murrell to 37 months imprisonment in absentia in October 2018. Murrell fled the country and flew to Bali just days before his sentencing hearing.

The bodybuilder resorted to making pornography after spending all the proceeds from his steroid dealing business.

Murrell ran out of money while living in Bali. He decided to use his smartphone to create homemade pornographic videos of himself as a means to fund his life on the lam. Unfortunately, the pornographic videos quickly led to his arrest.

Indonesia has strict anti-pornography laws. Murrell’s distinctive tattoos were used to identify him. And Denpasar Police arrested him on July 28, 2019. He was also charged with overstaying his visa by over 150 days.

British officials sought his extradition. The Indonesia courts approved the extradition several months later.

Murrell was one of several lower level distributors for David Jenkins. Jenkins was sentenced to 6 years in prison as the mastermind behind the UK domestic underground laboratory.

Murrell would have very likely received a much more lenient sentence than his 37 months incarceration if he would have accepted responsibility for his crime. His decision to run away to Bali did not help him win any sympathy from the judge.
