Texas Cop Suspended for Organized Criminal Steroid Sales

A Fort Worth police officer was indicted along with four other co-conspirators in an alleged steroid trafficking ring.

Jared Allyn Holt, a rookie officer with the Fort Worth Police Department in Texas, has been temporarily suspended after being linked to a local anabolic steroid trafficking ring. Holt’s suspension was effective beginning on February 22, 2019.

Fort Worth Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald suspended Holt upon learning of of the rookie officer’s legal predicament. Chief Fitzgerald notified the Fire Fighters’ and Police Officers’ Civil Service Commission in accordance with departmental policy.

Officer Holt allegedly worked with five others to help sell anabolic steroids.

Holt was indicted on first-degree felony charges involving alleged steroid sales by a Parker County grand jury on February 7, 2019. Holt was one of five suspects identified in the indictment.

Holt was joined in the indictment by his alleged co-conspirators Cody Johnson, Gregorio Lopez, Bradford Perry and James Wood. One unindicted co-conspirator was also identified as Scott Jackson.

Holt was arrested and booked into the Parker County Jail on February 11, 2019. He was released after posting a $25,000 bond later in the day.

Holt was charged with possessing with intent to deliver 400 grams or more of a Controlled Substance. Specifically, Holt was accused of distributing nandrolone, stanozolol, testosterone and other anabolic steroids or substances.

Parker County Assistant District Attorney Jeff Swain told local reporters that Holt could be sentenced to 15 to 99 years (or even life) in prison if he is convicted of the State felony charges.

Holt is being represented by local criminal defense and personal injury attorney Jim Lane of Fort Worth.

Holt has only been commissioned as a police officer since September 16, 2017. The future of Holt as a Fort Worth police officer is up in the air. His future employment ultimately depends on the outcome of the criminal case against him.
